Glen McPherson grew up in Western Colorado. He has been interested in treasure and lost mine hunting since childhood. He has pursued this interest vicariously since the early 1970s by following the exploits of his cousin, Mic, and he is interested in several other famous lost mine legends. After spending several years working in the oil drilling industry, McPherson went to Alaska, where he worked on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. Since then, he has developed a wide a varied background in practically every aspect of the construction industry. For the last few decades he has worked chiefly in the construction of specialty buildings and the management of crews involved in that work.
In the past fifteen years he has begun a hobby of knife making. His scrimshaw skills on bone handles have allowed him to produce some particularly striking examples of this art and he intends to pursue this hobby into retirement, so long as possible.
He has recently been staying very busy helping two ranchers in Wyoming and Arizona renovate and update their ranch facilities. This has given him the opportunity to become directly involved, for the first time, in a prospecting venture.
He has characteristically dived in and provided significant assistance to H.E.A.T. on its Treasure Trove permit dig in the Superstition Wilderness.
